Description of role The Deal Manager role is designed to act as a vertical partnership with the business. The Deal Manager will fulfil the role as primary contact and relationship manager for all Global Lending Operations activities while being responsible for facilitating Corporate & Specialist Lending Business areas and wider group stakeholders to ensure the banks transactions are managed as effectively as possible, with Risk Mitigation and Data quality at the forefront of the service provided. Essentially, our responsibility is to place the banks clients and investors as the priority. This offering is to be delivered in a way that supports our client's requirements and needs within an appropriate risk framework and control environment. Key responsibilities Attending front end Lending Desk meetings to understand strategy and volume changes (ad hoc). Review of Draft Documentation at appropriate stages, with a view to suggesting any changes to improve the operational aspect of the transaction. Completion and record retention of transaction With Holding Tax forms, such as W8 & W9 Ben forms. Deal Execution – Governance and Control function of initial commitment booking and pay away conditions in line with New Deal Facility checklists. Oversight and tracking of all conditions subsequent. Booking of New Deals in lending source system. Co-Ordination of Deal Handover meetings with IBP Stakeholders. Completion and Handover of Term/Deal Notes to Transaction Manager Servicing teams. Reconciliation of Derivatives booking versus Loan profiles to ensure the hedge is effective (if applicable). Filing of relevant documentation on Global Doc storage site – inclusive of permission control and access rights. Oversight of fee bookings and amortisation requirement. Data oversight of ongoing transaction in the capacity of Data Ownership. Booking of Lending Security/ Collateral – and ongoing oversight of valuation and booking accuracy. Updates security/collateral as and when directed by Credit via the Credit Minute process. Gatekeeper of the release of Security upon redemption of a Loan Transaction. Management & Governance of trading and sell down processes. Managing waiver applications with Credit and related stakeholders (Admin Agency). Management of With-Holding Tax process (Borrower & Lender). Oversight of Reg Reporting data, IFRS9 Classification, Funding Costs and data quality to ensure transactions are serviced in the most cost-effective manner. Oversight of Reconciliations and active support to clear complex breaks and long dated items. Oversight of arrears for communication with Business Lines, Credit and Credit support teams. Production of Risk Event write ups and analysis to close out gaps and reduce risks within the operating environment. Delivery of bank wide initiatives/projects. Dashboards and BU conversation is a key component of the Deal Manager role, this person is expected to own the production and accuracy of all data, information and drive the way in which it is utilised across the bank and raise operational issues. Production of Desk Level MI and KRI Reporting of outcomes of Desk level meetings to DM Leadership. Core skills and knowledge Regulatory Knowledge as applicable to role (compulsory) To act with integrity at all times and embrace the philosophy of treating our customers fairly (compulsory) Training, Coaching & Assessment skills (ability to identify training gaps in self and others) Strong experience over a broad and complex product range Strong LoanIQ experience and ability to build deals Ability to interpret and operationalise complex credit, ancillary & security documentation Strong understanding of lending risk environment Understanding of downstream implications, including finance, funding, risk reporting (market, operational and credit) System knowledge and flexibility, ability to navigate and adapt to changes through a constantly changing technical environment Ability to negotiate documentation, requirements and verbal interactions Pro-active “can do” approach with the ability to problem solve in a collaborative environment Ability to work under pressure and manage high volumes Strong analytical mind-set Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to build and manage relationships with all stakeholders Must be driven to facilitate, drive change and optimise efficiencies Illustrate a high level of emotional intelligence, coach ability, self-motivation and positive temperament Be accountable and take ownership for the role Any other attributes that would be helpful, but not essential for the role Knowledge of relevant Investec policies and procedures Knowledge of relevant Investec IT Applications Knowledge of Investec Authorisation Processes Extensive and diverse knowledge of the range of IBP lending products currently under management
