IT, Operations Our client is seeking a Temporary Data Scientist to join their Risk and Operations division on a fixed-term contract for a duration of 6 to 12 months. This role reports to the Project Manager and is vital in resolving data challenges within the organisation. The successful candidate will work to ensure high-quality prudential, financial crime, and conduct regulation within the Bailiwick of Guernsey, aiming to enhance its international reputation in the financial services sector. As part of a strategic three-year business plan, the role entails liaising with management and external professionals to develop analytics-led approaches to risk-based supervision and facilitate effective data use. Additionally, candidates are expected to produce clear and concise documentation, prepare engaging presentations, and contribute to internal projects that support the organisation’s mission. This position requires a high level of cooperation and a proactive attitude toward problem-solving within a data-driven context. Job Duties: Work towards delivering high-quality regulatory outcomes for the Bailiwick of Guernsey. Assist in protecting and promoting the organisation's competitive position within the financial services sector. Liaise with management and divisional representatives to fulfil data and analytics requirements. Develop and implement innovative analytical tools for risk-based supervision. Prepare and present findings and training to stakeholders, maintaining professional communication standards. Collaborate on internal projects, enhancing understanding of the role within the team’s success. Train new staff, acknowledging diverse styles and abilities within the team. Stay updated on regulatory laws and professional knowledge, pursuing relevant qualifications. Use project management skills to contribute to change and achieve delivery milestones. Write production-grade code in Python, R, and SQL, ensuring high-quality outputs. Job Requirements: Extensive experience in querying and analysing data from relational databases. Proficient in using Machine Learning techniques (both supervised and unsupervised), Natural Language Processing, and Cognitive Computing solutions. Ability to analyse complex digital data and present findings using visualisation techniques and tools (e.g., R Shiny, Power BI). Strong communication skills, able to chair and contribute to meetings effectively. Experience in collaborating with external contractors and engaging with staff at all levels. Demonstrated ability to prioritise business and information needs with a strong attention to detail.
