IT Our client is seeking a passionate Data Engineer to join their ambitious and friendly in-house Data Team within Information Services. This exciting full-time role offers a varied and interesting workload, allowing you to collaborate with a range of Information Services professionals. As a Data Engineer, you will play a key role in designing, creating, and deploying enterprise-scale data analytics solutions, transforming data into valuable insights that drive business decisions. Job Duties:
Build and maintain data pipelines for efficient data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL/ELT) processes. Develop data models and transformation processes, with primary tools being WhereScape Red and Microsoft Fabric (including Synapse SQL Data Warehouse, Notebooks, and Data Pipelines). Support the Data Warehouse implementation, ensuring data quality, integrity, and security. Collaborate with Data Analysts, Data Stewards, and cross-functional teams to deliver comprehensive data solutions. Create and maintain clear data documentation, including data catalogues and architecture diagrams. Optimise data storage and retrieval processes for improved performance. Contribute to data governance efforts and learn to implement DataOps philosophy. Stay current with industry trends and emerging technologies in data engineering.
Job Requirements:
Proficiency in SQL, capable of writing queries and understanding database concepts. Experience with or a strong interest in data warehousing concepts. Some programming experience (Python preferred; familiarity with R, Java, Scala, or similar languages is advantageous). Understanding of ETL/ELT concepts; hands-on experience is ideal but strong theoretical knowledge is also valued. A problem-solving mindset and analytical thinking skills. Good communication skills and a genuine interest in collaborative teamwork. Eagerness to learn and grow within the data engineering space. Experience with cloud data platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP, Databricks, Snowflake, etc.). Familiarity with data pipeline orchestration tools (Airflow, Azure Data Factory, or similar). Knowledge of data governance principles. Experience with version control (Git). Understanding of DataOps or DevOps practices. Familiarity with financial services or legal sectors is a plus.
