Thursday
Weather
S’ly winds, initially moderate but falling light by lunchtime, will bring mostly cloudy skies but with a few bright or sunny spells, and therefore some pleasant warmth. Temperatures will peak around 15 or possibly 16°C, and this should be felt quite widely across the Island, not just in Town.
Surf and the Water
Tides will be roughly 9m high around 6:30am and 7pm. Both the surf and the swimming conditions will be best on the west and north coasts in the morning. Then in the afternoon the swimming conditions will become great on all coasts. Wave heights will be around 6.8 feet on the west coast, and 2-4 feet on the north.
Friday
Weather
Maybe a little cloudy early morning and late evening, but sunny for the most part. Wind-wise the S’ly, much like on Thursday afternoon, will barely be noticeable at all, so we should see a widespread max of around 16°C. The UV index is likely to peak around 6, now that we are well past the equinox, and not that far away from May. So be sure to look after your skin, especially around lunchtime. Overnight, it looks as though a little rain will be coming, so don’t go leaving the laundry out, after the sun has made it so beautifully soft and dry.
Surf and the Water
Clean 4-5 foot surf on the west coast. Lovely swimming conditions on all coasts. Tides will be 9.3m at 7:20am and 9.4m at 7:40pm.
The Weekend
Weather
A couple of beautifully sunny ones, Sunday in particular, when there will barely be a single cloud or contrail all day long. Saturday, will be just as clear in the afternoon, but it might take the majority of the morning to shake off the cloud and dry up the ground after Friday night’s rainfall. Winds will be N’ly light force 2-3 on Saturday, then NE’ly moderate force 4 on Sunday, all bringing slightly cooler air to compromise the effect of the sunshine. Thus temperatures probably won’t exceed 14°C on either day, and the south coast will always feel warmest. Night time will be most notably on the chilly side, with min temps of 6-7°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be 4-5 feet and fairly clean on Saturday, then 2-3 feet and rather choppy on Sunday. The south coast will generally be best for swimming, although all coasts will be pretty good on Saturday. Tides will be 9.6m high around breakfast time and dusk.
Next Week
Weather
Moderate to fresh NE’ly winds will bring a mostly (but not entirely) dry and sunny week. The first half of the week looking particularly fine, the second half mostly likely to be cloudy and showery. The airflow will be a cool one, feeling particularly so when the wind is strongest. Max daytime temps will likely be around 13°C, and min night time temps around 8°C.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be rather choppy on the whole but cleaner at times, when the wind is a bit lighter. Wave heights varying between 1-2 feet on the smallest days and 4-5 feet on the biggest. As for the swimming conditions, they will be best on the south coast, especially around the times of high water. Those highs moving forward by almost an hour each day, such that on Monday it will be about 9.4m at breakfast time and on Friday it will be just 7m at lunchtime.
The next forecast update will be most likely be on Friday or Saturday…
