Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 24 June 2026

Thursday

Weather

The last of the ridiculously hot days. Breaking the record for the third consecutive day, with a likely peak of 34-35°C in the late afternoon sunshine, followed by a glorious hallelujah thunderstorm in the evening. Yes I know that some people are keen on thunder, but when it marks the transition between excruciating heat and the pleasant June average, then most people will view it like New Year’s Eve or the opening/closing ceremony of the Olympics. And much like those events, it’s not wise to go in with high expectations, because thunderstorms are notoriously localised, meaning that France or the neighbouring Islands might end up with the only decent seat in the house. Either way, we will see the moderate E’ly breeze switch to a W’ly soon after midnight, ushering in air of about 17-18°C and probably laden with mist and fog patches.

Surf and the Water

Flat surf but fantastic swimming conditions. What more could you wish for in this kind of heat. Don’t forget to protect your skin during the hours of high UV (roughly 10am to 4pm). Long loose clothing and wide-rim hats obviously being the best choice of all. Low tides will be in the mornings, shuffling forward incrementally from around 7am on Monday to 10am on Thursday. Low tide will be around 10am. High tide roughly 7.2m at 4pm.

Friday

Weather

With the wind now WSW’ly force 3-4, the temperature will be absolutely normal again from dawn onward. No gradual change, just a 17°C start to the day, with fog clearing to sunshine by lunchtime, followed by a modest afternoon max of about 23°C. The breeze will have eased to just light force 2 by then though, so 24°C is possible in Town, but it’s all a massive and most welcome come-down from the recent stifling conditions. Evening gatherings will still be very pleasant, it’s just that you might actually want to wear a little more than swimwear on this occasion. Min temp overnight 15°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf will most likely be flat but it might just be a rideable 1 foot, for longboards and SUPs. Tides will be low in the late morning/lunchtime. Swimming conditions will be best in the afternoon. Low tide will be around 11am. High tide roughly 7.4m at 5pm.

Saturday

Weather

Gorgeously sunny with barely a breath of wind, making this day the kind of summer day that is unanimously loved. Max temp around 25°C in most parishes, but possibly 26°C in Town. Overnight minimum 16°C.

Surf and the Water

The surf will most likely be flat but it might just be a rideable 1 foot, for longboards and SUPs. Tides will be low in the late morning/lunchtime. Swimming conditions will be fantastic all times and all places. Low tide will be around 11:50am. High tide roughly 7.7m at 5:50pm.

Sunday and Monday

Weather

A couple of more typical days, where the mornings are mostly cloudy, the afternoons a fair bit sunnier, but the light force 3 W’ly wind bringing air that isn’t a great deal warmer than the sea. As such, the Sunday max will likely be about 20-21°C and the Monday max just 19-20°C. Sunday morning looks as though it might have a little light rain too. Not enough to really satisfy the fields and gardens, but if it happens then it will be a whole lot better than nothing.

Surf and the Water

The surf should be 2 feet on Sunday, then a much-needed 4 feet and reasonably clean on Monday. Swimming conditions generally best in the afternoons, and most especially in the east. Tides will be low at lunchtime. Highs will be pre-breakfast and then around dinnertime (those evening highs being 8m and 8.2m respectively).

The next forecast update will be on Saturday…
