Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 16 January 2025

Friday

Weather

A cloudy and perhaps a little misty start, but it won’t be long before the sunshine breaks through and rips the cloud apart, maybe not quite to the extent of Thursday’s clarity, but not far off. Winds will be very similar to every day of late… more or less SE’ly (probably more SSE’ly) light force 2-3. The air will be on the chilly side, only peaking at 6-7°C but feeling pretty comfortable in the fine conditions.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 4 foot surf, along with smooth swimming conditions (on all coasts but especially on the north). Tides will be high around 8:40am (8.8m) and low around 3:15pm.

Saturday

Weather

Cloudier than Friday… the morning being a tad misty but the cloud will be pretty thin, so there might be some brightness breaking through. The afternoon cloud will probably be a bit thicker and greyer, but slightly higher so not so misty. Winds will be very light indeed, just force 1-2 ESE’ly and the temperature will be locked at a rather frigid 4-5°C.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 3 foot surf, along with smooth swimming conditions (on all coasts but especially on the north). Tides will be high around 9:15am (8.6m) and low around 3:45pm.

Sunday

Weather

Sunday morning will be just like Saturday afternoon, so still locked at 4-5°C under those same cloudy skies. Sunday afternoon should hopefully brighten up a little though… the soft sunshine allowing temperatures to climb to 6 or 7°C. Winds will be a tad stronger in the afternoon though, force 3 or possibly force 4 SSE’ly, meaning that it won’t really feel any warmer.

Surf and the Water

Super-clean 4 foot surf, along with smooth swimming conditions on the north coast. Tides will be high around 9:45am (8.3m) and low around 4:15pm.

Next Week

Weather

Monday looks lovely and sunny, with a gentle SSE’ly breeze taking temperatures to a relatively balmy 9°C. The next two days will have force 4-5 SE’ly winds, bringing similarly mild air but feeling chillier due to that breeze. Skies will be bright at times, but mostly cloudy and even quite showery on Wednesday. The current expectation is for a change more significantly unsettled conditions on Thursday and Friday, with force 5-6 WSW’ly winds and occasional rain on Thursday, followed by force 7-8 SSW’ly winds and a spell of heavy, squally rain on Friday. The temperatures probably in double figures on those two days, but not feeling at all pleasant.

Surf and the Water

Three days of clean medium-sized surf (Mon to Wed), followed by a couple of bigger but also choppier days (Thur and Fri). Lots of good windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions (except on Monday). Small tides, with highs in the late mornings Mon to Wed, then at lunchtime Thur and Fri.
