Monday and Tuesday
Weather
A couple of very familiar weather days… high cloud allowing some hazy sunshine at times. The winds blowing from an ESE’ly direction, generally moderate force 4. Temperatures should climb a little higher than previous days though, with maxima of 9°C and 10°C respectively. Min temperatures will be a little higher too, with Monday night only falling to 5 or 6°C, then Tuesday night only falling to 7 or 8°C.
Surf and the Water
Another incredible swell will be with us for Tuesday, but Monday will serve up some reasonably fun small stuff in the meantime. We are probably looking at clean knee to waist high waves on Monday, followed by double overhead power on Tuesday. The tides will be shrinking day by day, with highs of 8.6m at 9:15am Monday and 8.2m at 9:40am Tuesday. Low tides will be in the mid to late afternoons.
Wednesday to Friday
Weather
Winds will blow from a S’ly direction… force 3-4 on Wednesday, force 4-5 on Thursday, then force 5-6 on Friday. Along with that increasing wind-strength, we will also see an increasing likelihood and intensity of showers. But that will all be balanced by relatively lofty temperatures… it’s been quite a long time since we hit 12°C, but we should manage it easily on all three of these days. And the overnight temperatures probably won’t fall any lower than 9°C.
Surf and the Water
More super-clean surf, although the offshore wind will be a little stronger than ideal through late Thursday and Friday. We are probably looking at head-high waves Wednesday and Thursday, then slightly larger on Friday. The tides will become really small, with highs of 7.7m around 10am Wednesday, 7.2m at 10:40am Thursday and then 6.7m at 11:20am Friday. Low tides will be towards dusk.
The Weekend
Weather
After a rainy Friday night, we should be into clean sunshine for Saturday, with just a gentle force 3 WSW’ly breeze. This will mean another 11-12°C top temperature, even though the air will be inherently cooler than the previous days. Sunday will then see a return of strong SSW’ly winds and most probably quite a lot of rain, but that is a long way off, so it wouldn’t be at all surprising to see a change in the forecast by that time.
Surf and the Water
Saturday’s surf will be fairly clean and well overhead. Sunday’s will probably be head high and clean, but with the strength of the wind more suited to windsurfers and kitesurfers. The tides will be miniscule, with highs of just 6.3m lunchtime Saturday and 6.4m early afternoon Sunday. Low tides will be around dawn.
The next forecast update will on Wednesday…
