Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 19 February 2025

Thursday

Weather

A mostly cloudy day, punctuated by some drizzly showers but also some brighter interludes. The force 4-5 SSW’ly wind will bring mild air (max temp 12-13°C) but this will also be on the murky side, so there might be the odd moment of hill fog when those drizzly showers come and go... only transient though so probably not disruptive to air traffic.

Surf and the Water

Clean 4-5 foot waves for surfers and some pretty good wind for windsurfers and kitesurfers too. Tides will be about 7.2m high at 10:40am, then low just before 5pm.

Friday

Weather

A very similar day to Thursday in every way, except that the SSW’ly wind may touch strong force 6 at times, and the wet and murky weather is likely to be a little more prolonged in the afternoon. Therefore the risk of travel disruption will be slightly higher at that time. Once again, very mild, especially in Town.

Surf and the Water

Bigger surf (still clean, although rather difficult to paddle against the offshore wind), this time around 6-8 feet. Obviously great for windsurfing and kitesurfing too. Tides will be about 6.8m high at 11:20am, then low at 5:40pm (just after sunset).

The Weekend

Weather

After a rainy Friday night, we should be into clean sunshine for Saturday, with just a gentle force 3 WSW’ly breeze. This should mean a 12°C top temperature, even though the air will be inherently cooler than the previous days. Sunday will then see a return of strong SSW’ly winds and rather cloudy skies, but it looks as though the rain will probably hold off until the night time.

Surf and the Water

Saturday’s surf will be 6-8 feet and fairly clean, then Sunday’s only 4-5 feet but probably cleaner. That said, Sunday’s wind will be well suited to windsurfers and kitesurfers but a little bit difficult for surfers to paddle against. The tides will be miniscule, with highs of just 6.3m lunchtime Saturday and 6.4m early afternoon Sunday. Low tides will be around dawn.

Next Week

Weather

An up and down week of wind and weather… one day dry, the next day with showers or longer spells of rain. Winds look pretty strong (WSW’ly) on Monday and probably on Tuesday morning too. The rest of the week looks likely to have much lighter breezes from all over the compass at one time or another, but mainly SW’ly and therefore fairly mild. Max temps generally between 10 and 12°C.

Surf and the Water

Monday and Tuesday’s surf will be much choppier than we have seen for a while, but light winds in the second half of the week should make for cleanish conditions (probably around 4-5 feet when it’s messy and 2-3 feet when cleaner). Tides will be high towards dusk at the start of the week and then around dawn by the end, increasing from 6.9m on Monday to a whopping 9.5m on Friday. Low tides will move day by day, from mid-morning to lunchtime.
