Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 01 March 2025

Image uploaded by Jane Falla

Sunday

Weather

A mostly sunny day, albeit hazy sunshine, due to quite a lot of high cloud. The bubbles of lower cloud won’t be thick enough to produce any light showers, as they did on Saturday. The dry weather is here to stay for a long while now. Temperatures will peak around 10°C, much like on Saturday, which is unsurprising, with almost identical winds… force 3-4 ENE’ly. Night time temps will fall pretty low, probably 3°C by dawn Monday, meaning that a ground frost is likely (and probably a few icy windscreens too).

Surf and the Water

A solid swell will have arrived in the night. The waves will be about 4-5 feet on the sets, these sets few and far between but they will be strong when they hit. The reefs will obviously fair better than the beaches and they should hopefully manage the huge tide better too. High water will be roughly 9.8m at 8:10am and 9.5m at 8:30pm. Low water will be around 2:30pm.

Monday and Tuesday

Weather

Dry and sunny, only a few little cloud puffs here and there. Winds will be a little lighter than the weekend, allow the temperature to climb a degree higher by day and fall a degree lower by night. Therefore we are looking around 11°C for the maxima and around 2°C for the minima. Ground frost and icy windscreens will make the dawn period a little inconvenient but also very pretty.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 3 feet and cleanish on Monday, then 4 feet and very clean on Tuesday. Swimming conditions will be best on the south coast on Monday, then just as excellent on all coasts on Tuesday. Tides will be about 9.8m at 8:50am on Monday, then 9.3m at 9:30am on Tuesday. Low tides will be in the mid-afternoons.

Wednesday to Friday

Weather

These three days will be united by their wind direction (SE’ly). The big difference will be in the wind strength though... beautifully light on Wednesday (just force 2), then quite brisk at the end of the week (force 4 on Thursday and force 5 on Friday). This, as well as the increasing cloud amount, will counterbalance the general warming of the airmass, meaning that the daily max temps will probably hold fast at 11-12°C and never quite make it into the teens.

Surf and the Water

Offshore breezes will make for super-clean surf, especially on Wednesday when it will be lightest. Wave heights will be roughly 2-3 feet throughout. Windsurfing and kitesurfing conditions will be best on Friday. Tides will be high in the late mornings (shrinking to just 7m by Friday). Low water will move daily from late afternoon to early evening.

The Weekend

Weather

Probably (but not definitely) the end of the dry weather. The cloud, which will have already become prevalent through Thursday and Friday, will now be thick enough to deliver a few showers, possibly some rather heavy ones. Winds will remain SE’ly, and the airmass generally mild. Temperatures should creep into the teens each day 13-14°C for the maxima, then fall no lower than 8-9°C for the minima.

Surf and the Water

The surf will be 2 feet and clean, but the strength of the offshore wind might make it better for windsurfers and kitesurfers than for regular wave surfers. Tides will be low around breakfast time and high in the early afternoons (very small… just 6.5m on Saturday and 6.7m on Sunday).

The next forecast update will be on Monday evening…
