Sunday
Weather
Another day of relatively warm ESE’ly winds, under mostly (but not entirely) cloudy skies. The cloud will often be high and white, which means that plenty of hazy sunshine will slip through, taking the temperature to a max of 15°C. The breeze should be a tad lighter than on Saturday, so all parishes should feel more comfortable than on Saturday. Through the night time, there will be some patchy rain
Surf and the Water
Clean but sloppy 1 foot surf through most of the day, perhaps with the odd 2 foot set. Sea swimmers should probably make the most of this day, before the air temperature takes a dive in the week to come. Tides will be low at 9:15am, then high (6.7m) at 3:25pm.
Monday
Weather
A misty and perhaps occasionally drizzly day, which could be bad news for anyone hoping to hop on a plane. However, the wind direction will be ENE’ly which isn’t the most typical bringer of murk to Guernsey airport, so hopefully everything will still run smoothly. As for the wind strength, that will only be light force 2-3, so the greyness should still feel very comfortable. Max temp 13°C
Surf and the Water
The surf will be clean, but only 1 foot and weak, so the water will most probably be empty apart from a handful of swimmers. Tides will be low at 10:30am, then 7.3m high at 4:30pm.
Tuesday to Friday
Weather
A total mixed bag of cloud and sunshine, with one or two showers likely each day. There will be a distinct change in their nature though, as the NE’ly wind drags ever cooler air across the Islands. Tuesday, still relatively mild (max 9°C) will have drizzly showers, rather like on Monday. Wednesday onward (daily max temps around 7-8°C) will have heavier rain showers and possibly one or two minor hammerings of hail. There will be plenty of sunny spells between the showers, but those winds will occasionally step up to force 4-5, so it’s really going to feel much much chillier than the previous week.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be close to flat most days, but maybe 2 feet and semi-decent on Tuesday. Winds will become strong enough for windsurfers and kitesurfers to enjoy. As for the swimmers, it will be the south coast that is most sheltered and comfortable for them. Tides will generally be low around midday and high around dawn and dusk, increasing incrementally from 7.9m to 9.2m.
The next forecast update will be on Wednesday morning…
