Saturday
Weather
Little puffs of cumulus clouds here and there, but generally blue skies by day and starry skies to start the night. Skies will cloud up late evening though, and we will probably get some patchy rain from around midnight onward. Winds will be light force 2-3 NW’ly at dawn, backing WSW’ly by dusk, then increasing to moderate force 4 overnight. Max temps will be about 12°C in the afternoon, then min temps will be about 8-9°C around dawn and during the night.
Surf and the Water
4 foot surf gradually dropping to 2-3 feet. Rather sloppy but not too messy, given that the onshore wind will be quite light. Swimming conditions will be best on the south coast early the morning and best on the east coast through the rest of the day. Tides will be about 9.5m high around 6:30am and 6:50pm. Low tide will be just shy of 1pm.
Sunday
Weather
A cloudy and misty start, perhaps with a little drizzle. None of this will last long though, with the NW’ly breeze bringing cooler, drier air, causing the cloud to break apart and reveal some late morning sunshine. As for the afternoon, that should be about as sunny as Saturday was, but the wind will be moderate force 4 by then, which will make the 12-13°C max feel as though it’s a few degrees cooler. For maximum shelter and comfort, best to head to the south or east coasts.
Surf and the Water
More sloppy 2-3 foot surf. Swimming conditions generally best on the east coast. Tides will be about 9.9m high around 8am and 8:30pm. Low tide will be around 2:30pm.
Monday
Weather
Noticeably warmer, as a light force 2-3 E’ly breeze, takes the temperature up to 14 or 15°C under flawlessly blue skies. The west coast will be the toastiest, but everywhere else will be almost as lovely.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean 2-3 foot surf. Great swimming conditions on the west coast too. Big tides however… High water will be about 10m around 8:50am and 9.8m around 9:10pm. Low water will be around 3:10pm.
The Rest of Next Week
Weather
It really does look virtually cloudless throughout this period… day and night, pristine flawless skies. Winds will be on the perky side though (force 4-5 E’ly), so finding some shelter will definitely be necessary, if you want to feel the benefit of the 15-16°C maxima. Other things to be aware of… laundry will dry beautifully quickly under these conditions, the sunshine will be strong enough to cause a little sunburn and, finally, it might prove to be a bit of a sneezy week for hay fever sufferers.
Surf and the Water
Super-clean waves throughout… 1-2 feet at their smallest moments and 3-5 feet at their biggest. The wind will possibly be brisk enough for kitesurfers and windsurfers at times, especially on Tuesday and Friday. Tides will be high in the mornings (shrinking incrementally from 9.8m on Monday to a modest 7.6m on Friday). Low tides will be in the afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Monday evening…
