Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 04 April 2025

Saturday

Weather

Wall to wall sunshine, kind of spoilt by the force 4-5 ENE’ly wind… unless you find a decent sheltered spot that is. The best south-coast beach for this will be Petit Port. The best west-coast spots will be right in the northern corners of each Bay. Otherwise, there will be lots of inland spots amongst the trees or on the southwestern sides of buildings. Temperatures will peak around 14-15 °C. That’s a couple of degrees down on Friday, but still marginally above the early April average.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast will be a total pancake for surfers, but there will be a suitable amount of puff to entertain the kitesurfers and windsurfers. Swimmers will enjoy the sunshine, so long as it’s combined with shelter from the wind. The best places for this will be the northern corners of the west-coast bays and the eastern corners of the south-coast bays. High tide will be about 6.8m at 12:30pm. Low tide will be around 6:20am and 6:50pm.

Sunday

Weather

Guess what, sunny sunny sunny again. The ENE’ly wind will still be a bit of a menace, mainly because it’s bringing ever cooler air to the Channel, but it will at least be marginally lighter than on Saturday. Max temps on this day only 13-14°C. Minimum overnight temps will be on the low side… getting down to 6 or 7°C. No worries about ground frost, but definitely a night for pyjamas.

Surf and the Water

Slightly gentler winds will be better for swimmers but obviously not so good for windsurfers and kitesurfers. Unfortunately, regardless of this, surfers will be cursed with the same old flatness. High tide will be about 6.4m at 2:25pm. Low tide will be around 7:55am and 8:40pm.

Monday

Weather

Another day of pristine sunshine, but this one will feel a little more special, because the NE’ly breeze will only be light force 3. The air will be inherently cooler than the previous day, but the temperature will be no lower, because with lighter winds the coolness of the sea water will have slightly less influence on the heat of the land. Night time temps will be low again too, probably getting down to 5°C, so this does mean that there’s a slim chance of ground frost in the most sheltered inland places.

Surf and the Water

The west-coast might just be blessed with some surfable 1-2 foot waves, for longboarders and SUP riders. Swimmers will certainly be blessed with one of their loveliest days., with Cobo being especially gorgeous in the mid-afternoon when the tide and the temperature are at their highest. Only small tides though, with low water at 10am and then a high of just 6.6m around 4pm.

The Rest of Next Week

Weather

Another bunch of sunny days, when the wind will really be the only element that we have to keep track of, in order to figure out where will feel warmest and how warm that will be. Currently it looks as though the wind direction will be NE’ly throughout, with temperatures peaking around 13°C by day and falling to around 7°C by night. Wednesday will probably be the windiest day and therefore feel least comfortable. Friday probably the calmest day and therefore feel most lovely.

Surf and the Water

There’s currently a hint of a decent 3 foot swell from late Tuesday, through until early Thursday, but it’s a bit of an optimistic outlook. The pessimistic counterbalance comes from the cross-shore wind and the fact that the swell will be coming up from the south, which means that it might miss us altogether. Good news for swimmers though, because the wind won’t be as strong as most recent days. Tidal movements will be very small at the start of the week and medium-large by the end. Tuesday’s high water will be about 7.2m at 5pm. Friday’s will be about 8.5m at 6:40am and 8.6m at 7pm.

The next forecast update will be on Monday…
