Friday
Weather
Maybe the odd scrap of cloud around dawn, but most probably super-sunny for the entire day. A subtle change in wind direction will make for slightly higher temperatures, shifting to a light force 3 E’ly, rather than the moderate force 4 ENE’ly of the previous days. The difference being a max temp of 15-16°C rather than 12-13°C. The western parishes will be warmest of all, but watch out for sunburn during the middle part of the day, when the UV index will be a solid 5.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be almost or perhaps totally flat. Swimming conditions will be best in the eastern corners of the south-coast bays and in the northern corners of the west coast bays. Low tide will be around 1pm and high tide around 6:40am and 7pm (roughly 8.6m).
Saturday
Weather
A mild and reasonably pleasant day for the most part. However, it will be increasingly cloudy and then showers will develop in the afternoon and become prolonged for a time in the evening. Winds will be very light, just force 2-3, E’ly in the morning then SE’ly in the afternoon, gradually veering SW’ly overnight. Temperatures will peak around 15-16°C, despite the cloudy skies, and the whole Island should feel very comfortable. Slight chance of mist or fog patches in the evening.
Surf and the Water
The surf will be knee-high and clean, so there should be some fun ripples for longboards and SUPs. Swimming conditions will be best of all on the west coast, but the other coasts should also be pretty smooth. Low tide will be around 1:40pm and high tide around 7:15am and 7:30pm (roughly 8.9m).
Sunday
Weather
Some morning sunshine, followed by a mostly cloudy afternoon. The winds will be W’ly, easing from force 4 in the morning to force 3 in the afternoon. They might bring one or two passing showers, but it’s most likely that they will miss just us and pass by on the horizon. For the first time this week, Town will be warmer than the rest of the Island, probably peaking at 14°C.
Surf and the Water
The west-coast surf will be 2-3 feet and a bit choppy in the morning. Hopefully cleaner in the afternoon though. Swimming conditions will be best along the east coast. High tide will be about 9m at 7:45am. Low tide will be at 1:10pm.
Next Week
Weather
An unsettled week, with a serries of low-pressure systems either passing over the Channel or relatively close by. Winds will be S’ly or SE’ly for much of the time, although probably W’ly on Tuesday evening and through Wednesday. The strongest winds will most likely be on Tuesday evening (force 6) and on Friday (force 5). Otherwise, it should generally be force 3-4, which should feel comfortably relaxed. Most days will only have a couple of brief showers, punctuated by much longer sunny spells. The only day that might be significantly wetter would be Tuesday, but the detail is still uncertain at this early stage.
Surf and the Water
3-4 foot surf nearly every day, perhaps a little bigger on Wednesday. However, Wednesday is the only day that looks likely to be choppy. All other days should be lovely and clean. Tides will be high in the mornings (decreasing from around 9m on Monday to a little less than 8m on Friday). Low tides will be in the afternoons.
The next forecast update will be on Sunday evening…
