Seven day Guernsey weather forecast for 02 May 2025

Friday

Weather

Much like Thursday, dry and partly cloudy through the daytime then showery during the night time. These showers are likely to be heavier though, possibly thundery, and slightly more gusty. Daytime temperatures will be a fair bit lower than on Thursday, peeking at around 17-18°C. The night time will be similarly mild though with the temperature falling no lower than 12°C. As for the wind, we will have a light force 2 W’ly in the morning, veering N’ly in the afternoon, then a force 3-4 NE’ly during the night time.

Surf and the Water

Tiny surf, just 1-2 feet on the biggest sets, but clean and rideable. Swimming conditions will be lovely all around the Island. Tides will be about 8.3m high around 10:30am, then low at 4:50pm.

The Weekend

Weather

Saturday might take quite a long time to shake off Friday night's thundery showers, but then it looks partly sunny and dry for Sunday. The main story will be the tumbling temperatures and the increasing wind-chill. All a bit of a comedown from the advanced taste of summer that we have just been treated to. Saturday, will have a top temp of 15-16°C which will be barely affected by the feel of NE’ly breeze, because it will only be force 2-3 on that day. Sunday’s max temp will not only be a couple of degrees lower, but it will feel quite a lot cooler than that, because the wind (still NE’ly) will be fresh force 5. The only places to feel remotely warm will be in the shelter of tall walls or the south-coast cliffs.

Surf and the Water

Clean and rideable knee-high waves on Saturday, then choppy near-flatness on Sunday. Swimming conditions will be good in most areas on Saturday, but only in the most sheltered south-coast bays on Sunday. Tides will be high around midday, and low around dawn and dinnertime.

Next Week

Weather

The temperature will stay low throughout the week, due to the high-pressure system remaining steadfast over the Atlantic (near Ireland) and therefore maintaining the NE’ly flow of air from the Arctic and Scandinavia. There will some days that are much sunnier than others though, and when this combines with lighter breezes (or really good shelter) then it might feel pleasant enough to take your jumper off. The daily maxima will vary between 11 and 14°C, whilst the wind varies between brief moments of light force 3 and longer episodes of fresh force 5. The nights will be cool too, with the windier nights falling to 9 or 10°C, and the calmer nights falling as low as 7 or 8°C. There is the slim chance of a shower here and there, which is to be expected when cold air moves over (believe it or not) relatively warm sea, and when this air is forced to rise as it converges through the Dover Strait. These showers will be very few and far between though, with much longer spells of sunshine in between. Don’t forget the UV index will still be high between 11am and 3pm, so sun protection will be necessary, especially for those who work outdoors all day.

Surf and the Water

I’m afraid there will be further flatness for surfers to deal with, but windsurfers and kitesurfers should keep themselves amused at times. Swimming conditions will be best along the south coast throughout. Tides will be low in the mornings and high in the afternoons (increasing gradually from about 6.6m to 7.9m).

The next forecast update will be on Monday morning…
