Monday to Wednesday
Weather
A few brief showers likely on Monday (morning and evening). Possibly a couple more on Tuesday night and Wednesday night. The majority of the period should be bone dry though, with bubbly clouds in an otherwise clear sky. The main story will be the coolness of the air and the chill of the force 4-5 NE’ly wind. Temperatures should peak at just 12°C on Monday, then 13-14°C on Tuesday and Wednesday. Night time temperatures dropping to around 9°C. (On the plus side… cool air does bring fantastic visibility).
Surf and the Water
The surf is looking completely flat until maybe Tuesday evening, then a 1-2 foot swell will be with us for about 24 hours. However, the brisk cross wind will make a right mess of it. There should be some decent moments for kitesurfers and windsurfers though (especially around lunchtime each day). Swimming conditions will always be best along the south coast. Tides will be low in the mornings. The highs will be 6.6m around 2pm Monday, 6.7m around 3:15pm Tuesday, then 7.1m around 4:20pm Wednesday.
Thursday and Friday (Liberation Day)
Weather
The broad story of windy sunshine will continue. It will likely be a degrees or two less cold though, due to a subtle wind change from a straight NE’ly to an ENE’ly. The chance of showers will most likely have reduced to zero as well, especially for Liberation day, which will barely have a cloud in the sky. The max temps will be 14-15°C on Thursday and then 15-16°C on Friday. Milder nights too, with minima of 10 and 11°C respectively.
Surf and the Water
Flat surf, but good conditions for windsurfing and kitesurfing. Tides will be low in the late mornings, then high towards dinner time (7.5m Thursday, and 7.9m Friday)
The Weekend
Weather
Super sunny and still irritatingly windy (fresh force 5 ENE’ly). Temperatures will continue to rise though, peaking around 16-17°C by day and then falling to lows of 11-12°C in the night time..
Surf and the Water
Maybe some 1-2 foot surf, but it will likely be messed up by the crosswind, to at least the same extent as on Wednesday. Once again however, this will be better news for the Island’s windsurfers and kitesurfers. Tides will be high around dawn and dinner time, increasing incrementally from 8m on Saturday morning, to 8.5m on Sunday evening. Low tides will be at lunchtime.
The next forecast update will be on Thursday…
